The Dreaded T Word...

So one of things I'm scared about is training! The dreaded T word! Partly because it is going to be so important and without it the actual challenge will be even more difficult than it already is.

Charity Challenge, who are running the challenge on behalf of the Brain Tumour Charity, have provide me with a 16 or 24 week training schedule. I've opted for the 24 week as I figure the more I can do the better! Basically each week I have so many hours of walking to accomplish with an 8 hour walk on difficult terrain being the task for the last couple of weeks. I already walk a fair amount as I walk the 6km to work and then back again most days, but any training I do will have to be in addition to this. I'm currently looking at a range of place good for walking, and I'll keep you posted on those.

It isn't just walking I need to do in preparation. I need to have the strength and stamina to be able to carry a heavy day pack each day and tolerate the potentially unbearable heat. Cross training is important as well as overall fitness. As a result I have rejoined my old personal trainers, Kristy Ellis Personal Training. They will help me focus on the areas I need to plus get a good overall level of fitness. I returned two weeks ago and all I can say is OUCH!!!

One thing I want to make sure I do is advertise my challenge as much as possible. With all my training,, most likely taking place all over the country, I want everyone to know what I'm doing, why I'm doing it and how they can sponsor me. Therefore I have put together some training tops! Fingers crossed they will last me until February!

I also just wanted to quickly say a big thank you to those who have already sponsored me! It is a massive encouragement to have so much support and I know I'll make you guys proud!
